The further I go and the longer I walk down the path of this short life
The veil of innocence shakes and begins to dissolve before my own eyes
And I can see now what You saw all along
The freedom of youth shielded my virgin mind from a world so cold and mean
It wasn’t until I stepped out in the rain; I was faced with reality
The more I grow with You, the more my heart breaks at the truth
Even in our wicked state, You pursue us endlessly
The sin we embrace won’t keep You from clothing us in purity
You find beauty in the unclean
The seal of adoption through Your Spirit makes us Your daughters and Your sons
From birth You desired to call us Your own. Surely You knew what we’d become?
Yet You chose us from the start to be the lovers of Your heart
The more I try to run from You, the more You seek me out.
My soul feels so unworthy, Lord, and my head is full of doubt.
Why would you pursue me so, what am I unto a King?
Then Your mercy washes over me; it’s a beautiful cleansing!
Even in our wicked state, You pursue us endlessly
The sin we embrace won’t keep You from clothing us in purity
Your Grace brings me beauty
In You, I am made clean.
